St. James Family Center offers many supportive services.
The Charlotte House Domestic Violence Shelter is available at a discreet location for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. Legal, medical and social service advocacy is available for all victims. A 24/7 domestic violence hotline is also available at (360) 795-6400.
Parents as Teachers equips parents of young children (ages 5 and under) with information about child development, development screenings, hearing screenings, vision screenings and community supports such as play and learn groups, family fun nights and more. Families of newborns receive Welcome Baby Baskets. Free diapers may be available on an emergency basis.
Head Start (ECEAP) is a comprehensive preschool and social services program for children ages 3-4 by August 31 of the enrollment year. The program stimulates learning and development through crafts, puzzles, toys, music, field trips, meals and snacks.
Child care and after-school care is available. Care is provided all day, before school and/or after school as needed. Staff provide lessons and activities such as arts, crafts, playtime, computer skills, cooking, active play, games, and homework help. Transportation is provided by the public school.
Youth adventure program provides summer recreation and educational opportunities for free or low-cost. Low income assistance is available. Call 795-8612 for more information.
