The Garfield County Health District provides communicable disease control, environmental health information, HIV education in schools, vital statistics and more.

They also offer an immunization clinic for children (which accepts Medicaid), free blood pressure screenings and a special program for children with special health care needs.

The Women, Infants & Children (WIC) program is also administered here. This program provides nutrition and health assessments, breastfeeding counseling, free food vouchers, health screenings, referrals and more. WIC checks are valued at about $50 per month per participant and can be used to purchase milk, eggs, cheese, bread, tortillas, brown rice, breakfast cereal, fresh fruits and vegetables. Vouchers also provide cereal, jarred baby food and infant formula to infants.
