The Community Action Council of Lewis, Mason & Thurston Counties offers many programs to the county. Their contribution cannot be overstated.
Women, Infants & Children (WIC)
The WIC program provides nutritious food and nutrition education to low income households with small children, infants or a pregnant woman. Eligible clients receive monthly checks that can be used to purchase certain nutritious items, such as cereal, juice, milk and vegetables.
The Community Action Council offers over 300 affordable housing units and can even assist with rent payments in some cases. Contact the Community Action Council for more information.
The Community Action Council administers the Housing and Essential Needs (HEN) program that seeks to prevent homelessness and rehouse unemployable adults. This program assists with utility payments, personal hygiene products and transportation. Over 300 individuals per month receive help from this program!
Federally funded LIHEAP programs provide assistance to thousands of households. The funds are used to pay for gas, electricity, oil, wood or propane heating.
You may also be able to receive weatherization assistance! This program improves the energy efficiency of your home by providing air sealing, insulation, and basic repairs.
