Where do you turn after a house fire, flood or earthquake? American Red Cross provides disaster relief services to help families rebuild their lives by providing for immediate needs such as shelter, food, clothing, medication and emotional support.

The Red Cross does not accept any non-emergency requests for assistance. They only provide assistance to victims of floods, earthquakes, fires, volcanic eruptions and other disasters.

Following a widespread disaster, emergency assistance is available 24/7. You will need to provide photo ID, proof of address, rental lease or home owner documentation.

The Red Cross also offers the Service to Armed Forces program. This program provides 24/7 emergency communication between families and military service members around the world. Messages regarding birth,death and serious illness can be transmitted confidentially through the Emergency Communication Messages (ECM) system. They may also be able to provide emergency travel in some situations.
